The Boxwood Group is an independent claims consulting firm providing dispute resolution and claims solutions for corporate insureds, insurance brokers, insurers, and third party administrators.
The premise of the firm is to help clients with property and casualty insurance coverage and claims related issues by providing them with practical solutions.
We act as adviser and advocate helping our clients resolve insurance coverage and claims handling disputes. We act as an intermediary to bring both parties together to manage complex claim matters and resolve contentious claim strategy and coverage issues.
The Boxwood Group expands and contracts with the business as needed utilizing a network of claim professionals and other claim related resources from the legal, accounting, insurance and technology fields. The Boxwood Group’s alliance of business partners was selected for their extensive experience and best in class solutions in their fields of expertise.
About the Founder
The Boxwood Group's founder, Thomas Falzarano, brings over 38 years of experience acting as an insured’s advocate and intermediary with insurance markets. He was formerly a managing director and the global casualty claims practice leader for Marsh. Mr. Falzarano has multiple lines insurance coverage expertise, including property. His extensive experience involves working with various excess coverages, including integrated occurrence/batch claims and various other types of claims involving date range triggers. His background includes resolving several high profile liability, property, marine, and fidelity claims for insureds.
He has participated as a facilitator/instructor for RIMS at a number of their annual conferences; RIMS instructor for 5 years teaching “Claims Management,” a course he co-created and authored; speaker at the IBC USA Captives Conference 2004 on claim management and captives; panel speaker/participant at the Bermuda Risk Management Roundtable on TPA selection and a short discussion on pandemic preparedness, sponsored by “Institutional Investor” in 2006; co-authored “Loss Management in Time of Terrorism,” “Claims Magazine,” Sept. 2003; various white papers on the general liability policy’s response to SARS, pandemics, and hurricanes, and was quoted in “Risk & Insurance” and “National Underwriter” magazines on the same subjects. Mr. Falzarano is a frequent contributor to The Edge, an on-line insurance newsletter published by AmWINS Group providing insights and perspectives on current insurance related topics. Before joining Marsh in 1980, Mr. Falzarano was a Casualty and Property Claims Supervisor for Reliance Insurance Company. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Seton Hall University. Mr. Falzarano is a licensed insurance broker.
